Sunday, May 29, 2011 - Nashville, TN to Memphis, TN

We spent the night in Tennessee in a cabin in the woods.

It was sort of a gated community. They call it a "holler" in these parts.

Todd is communing with nature.

Nature
A thought about nature: as wonderful as nature is, all the warnings about chiggers, ticks and wasps really freaked Stephanie out! At least the cicadas hadn't descended.

Hi Maddie!

These were our accomodations, the fantastic cabin of our friends Jason (remember him from the beginning of this year's blog?) and Andrea.

Jason, looking contemplative (Stephanie thinks - maybe his next album cover?)

Andrea, looking at Jason

The very definition of chillaxin'

Howdy!

We left the woods and the signs knew we were not from around there.

We made it to Memphis! We hope we can get into the 'Zone!

The Memphis Redbirds have a red bird!

Cool mural

Cool sign

Todd said, "She's nice."

Taking pictures of the game from an apartment next door

The Redbirds Bullpen doesn't look too concerned.

LUNA! We miss The McCabe's Band.

Well, if Baseball America says so it must be true. (?)

The day before Memorial Day, and this seemed really appropriate

Watching the game from the parking garage

Bottom left corner of the picture - watching the game on the rooftop next door

Why is this chair red?

We were there!

We saw the Memphis Redbirds (AAA for the Cardinals) beat the Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA for the Royals). The Storm Chasers must be all worn out from tornado season.

We swear this sign says "Welcome to Arkansas."

Saturday, May 28, 2011 - Evansville, IN to Nashville, TN

So we woke up in Madisonville, KY and spent some time with an old friend and his happy waves.

This was at the hotel. Still an important thing to know even though there's no "weather" at the moment...

We were right near the Trail of Tears and paid our respects to the Cherokee.

The log cabin was the museum.

Statues of two Cherokee Chiefs, Chief Whitepath and Chief Fly Smith, who died on the Trail at this site.

Abruptly switching gears, we think we found the SoCo distillery.

Free air! (no hose?)

We can't tell if it's Genesis I or II - Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins?

Hopkinsville (KY) Community College has a Literary Park.

WITH a marble recreation of The Round Table!

King Arthur's Round Table!

We made a new friend. Hi Snowball!

AND a Greek amphitheater!

Yup

Mmm-hmm

Welcome to Tenn......e!

Outside the Grand Ol' Opry are some big ol' git-fiddles.

Grand Ole Opry!

Stephanie makin' friends (yee haw)

Cool doors

The hippies are attacking! Run, country music, RUN!

Can you even tell the difference between 24 and 25mph?

Nashville has its very own Parthenon.

And we ran into a wedding!

At the Nashville Sounds ballpark, people sometimes hit things.

nom nom

The field

Whatta cool scoreboard!

The cicadas were infesting Nashville while we were there. We heard that the newspaper ran a story with recipes for them (yuck). Does this qualify?

Stephanie TOTALLY wanted to do this.

Stephanie and Ozzie

This is not Mindon. She had taken the day off. Sorry Mike from Louisville!

We searched and searched the ballpark but found no GooGoo Clusters. (sad face)

But we found Nique' (much better than a GooGoo Cluster). See you on the East Coast!

The Nashville Sounds were wearing pink jerseys which they auctioned off to raise money for cancer research.

The Nashville Sounds (AAA for the Brewers) beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks (AAA for the Astros). And yes, Koby Clemens (Roger's son) was on the RedHawks but Todd wouldn't let Stephanie post a picture of him.
