Welcome to Florence, y'all!
We are in Boone County, like Daniel Boone.
Oh no! Another school field trip day!
Stephanie's picture.
Yup. School field trip day.
We couldn't get lawn seats.
Art in the ballpark!
Awesome
Belle is outta here - too many schoolkids!
Belle is back, with Liberty.
We thank Jeff and Dawn for the use of their seats.
What are walking tacos?
Chick-fil-A fowl pole!
Stephanie and Liberty

What? What happens?? Stand up!!
Drink responsibly. Don't get all hopped up on caffeine and sugar.
Nice, ice.
BFFs
Free beer tomorrow at the Bluegrass Hospice?
Eyeball Race! We miss you Annette!
At one point this girl turned around and said to us, "You have knowledge!" Hah! Little does she know...
The bullpen of iniquity?
Stephanie does not fear the nut! She and Brutus the Buckeye are old friends!
Todd made his own condiment race.
Huh?
Todd is popular with the little ladies! They came up to him and asked to touch his beard.
They're leaving!
Stephanie also made a new friend.
Dare we ask what a ButterBurger is? Do we even want to know?
Our friend turned into a turtle.
"Cotton-eyed Joe" has its own dance! Who knew?
Almost all the schoolkids left...but there is still a game going!
Well, there was a decisive win for the Normal (IL) Cornbelters over the hometown Florence (KY) Freedom. This is the Frontier League, and they are not affiliated with MLB.
A mural of Liberty and Belle.
Todd and more art!
All the buses left. There was one kid just sitting and reading.
They named a whole town in Kentucky for him?
Fill 'er up!
From the top: Indiana, Ohio (River) and Kentucky!
Now THIS is art! It's a water tower (on the National Register of Historic Places) that houses an art gallery!
Detail of the tower
These are all places we are going! And the city in the background is Louisville, which is where we're heading now.
Grr
Who recognizes those twin spires?
Silly Mustang - only Thoroughbreds can go inside!
Barbaro statue and Churchill Downs
Doesn't Metallica have a song called Secretariat? (leave me be)
Our lovely and knowledgeable tour guide Chelsea. Hi Chelsea!
The tunnel to the track from the paddock. AKA what the horses see.
Should Stephanie start running?
Finish Line!
Statue of Aristides, the first Kentucky Derby winner (in 1875). One of the coolest things about this place is that every living human on earth right now can find the Derby Winner from the year of his or her birth.
Seattle Slew and Affirmed, the last Triple Crown Winners (and it was back to back)
Cool bench
There were no races today, so the jockeys couldn't park at the wagering window. Isn't that cheating somehow?
Tee hee!

All that remains of the Giving Tree, outside our hotel.
It was hot and sunny out there today. We got Kentucky fried!
Even though it was hot and sunny out today, tonight a line of severe thunderstorms rolled through Louisville. The power went out twice in the hotel and we were under a tornado warning.
